Workshop Cleanup

July 27, 2008

I got a bit motivated this weekend, and decided to put serious effort into cleaning up and organizing the workshop.  Actually, I did an amazing job, considering the age of this body!  Check out the pictures below to see what is going on at the moment:

Above I added a hanger for my good extension cord, leaving it close to outlet access.  I need to get a cover for the outlet someday.

I hung up a few old license plates above the door, just to give the workshop that redneck feeling once you enter.

I created a mobile holder for my punches, and added a small back wall to the shelf so it won't get knocked off.  Also, notice the string that runs under the shelf, allowing me to hang my line levels on it.  I also added a paint can opener hook.

Above is an overall view of the section that received the most attention during the cleanup.  See how neat the shelves are now, giving me a place to put all my boxes of nails and screws.  The pegboard to the left of the white heating unit is reserved for car care stuff.

Here you can see that I actually cleaned off the two-tiered coke and coffee bar.  Yes, it is looking good!

This is the other side of the new wall.  Notice that the coffee cubby is actually being used for a coffee mug!  The area to the right of the coffee cubbies is the area dedicated to painting supplies.

To the right of the painting section is my new lathe table.  I added a 1/4" sheet of plywood to the top of the table that came with the lathe so I could paint it (can't have a lathe table that doesn't match the workshop colors!).  For historical information, I recently was able to purchase a lathe, with table and chisels, for $50.  The table top was a bit oily, making the task of painting it a bit challenging.  Now that the table is ready, I will be mounting the lathe soon.

I also moved my CD/MP3 player over to the coke and coffee bar.  Notice the pvc pipe painted red to hide the speakers wires that come down from the ceiling.
