Spread Your Wings
I'm saddened your not feeling well - Your tears, they fall like rain. But through all this you have a friend - A cure, without the pain! I prescribe a healthy attitude, And laughter, long and bold. And West Virginia whitewater - Clear and icy cold! Adventures, fun and daring - Like dancing in the rain. From walks through somber mountaintops, To jumping from a plane! A glass of clear, blue autumn sky Each morn as you awake Will clear your head so you can think Of dreams you can't forsake. At night you'll need to bathe yourself In moonlight overhead And drink a cup of happiness Before you jump in bed. Each dawn, the sunrise you must seek To reflect upon your eyes. Throughout the day your mind must play This keeps you young and wise. Barefoot walks on snow-white sands Of beaches far and near And playing tag among the clouds Will help abate your fear. There's one last thing that you must know - On this you can depend When feeling helpless, sad, alone - I'll always be your friend. W. David Martin, Jr.July 17, 1997
