Workshop Renovation 2004

November 1, 2004

Not much done in October ... busy month at work ... perhaps I can get more done this month ... :-)

November 7, 2004

Had an inside project to do this weekend ... we recently had to replace our dryer (after about 25 years of dedicated service !).  Unfortunately, dryer manufacturers chose not to make the dryer vent in the same location on all dryers.  Our last dryer had a vent that began about 5 inches from the floor, allowing me to put it into the wall above the baseboard.  THIS one was about 3 inches from the floor, meaning I was going to have to cut into the baseboard and move the hole down about 2 inches (have you ever tried to move a hole ???).  After many inappropriate words being directed at dryer manufacturers, I finally was successful in doing what I set out to do, and the dryer is now in place as it should be.

Here is a picture of the vent in the closet on the carport.  Got it moved down and secured with a new piece of wallboard attached from this side.

Here is the dryer vent behind the dryer.  Notice where the baseboard is cut out, but the old hole in the wallboard is fixed.  By the way, it actually works too !
