Workshop Renovation 2004 May 01, 2004
Started working on a drop ceiling ... this is going to take a bit of time to finish, not to mention some of the problems I will encounter (such as the garage door) as I move along, but we will see what happens.
Another angle of the same area. Keep checking back and see how far I get with this ! Notice the moon and star thingy ? Norm Abram, Master Carpenter, has one like it in his workshop ! :-)

Went out and bought a few flowers for my workshop barrel. Looks good, doesn't it ?
While I was in the gardening mood, I placed and leveled some fake stones to make an area in front of Zack's parking space look a little better. More plants to come. And notice the lights ... need to get some wire to them ... not going to be easy.

Added a few more ceiling tile in the workshop this morning .... even cut a hole in one for the light ! It is coming along !
And now to get electricity to the new landscape lights out front. First I had to pull up the bricks (which I put there JUST for a moment like this !)
A few hours later in the HOT SUN, and the hard part of the job is finished ! The sand will settle for a few weeks yet, so I will be playing with that some more. By the way, I had to take my lawnmower to get it fixed, and it won't be back for a week or two. If you notice my grass getting tall, you know why !

I decided that I needed easier access to the attic in my workshop, so I cut out a portion of one of the rafters to give me an area approximately 5' X 4'. Here I have the access framed with 2 X 8's.
Not wanting the roof to collapse on me, I am supporting the cutout area with 4' X 4' pressure treated posts. Then I used lag screws to secure the supports.
Next I started building my a stairway so I won't have to keep moving my ladder to get up there. This part is going a bit slower because it requires some precision measurements to make sure the steps are level, since my floor is less than perfect.
Did a little more work on my drop-ceiling also. As I was doing this, I realized that I will not have any light to speak of once the ceiling is finished, so I ran a 12 gauge wire from the electric panel over to the stairway. Plan to install at least 3 lights in the attic with a switch somewhere around the stairway.
