Been a busy month ... hope to get started back on the workshop soon.  Just got back from Arizona, so you can see the mountains I got to play with while there :

Camelback Mountain

Mummy Mountain

Night Sky Workshop for Hire !

Well, it finally happened ... someone wanted to pay me for my skills with tools !  Below you will see a porch being attacked by rotten wood in a few places.  My job is to transform it back to the original condition.

Here I have removed the rotten molding.

Another post with bad molding and the surrounding 1 X 4, which will also have to be replaced.  See the next picture below for that task !

The railing had to be disconnected in order to remove the wood surrounding this post.

Here you see the homeowner (also known affectionately as "the paying customer") assisting with some of the detail work.

The rotten portion of this piece has been replaced with a new section.

With new molding added, this post will be as good as new once it is painted !  Damn, I love doing this stuff !

Continuing with the rotten wood project, the bad section of this post was cut out and prepped to receive a new piece to provide "unrotten" support.

With the new piece secured into place, all that is left now is to sand it smooth, attach the decorative trim and molding, paint it, and admire the amazing job !

After a bit of stubbornness with the railing, this post has four new pieces surrounding it, along with the trim along the top.  See below for a view from the porch:

Now all left to do is to let the wood filler dry, sand it smooth, prime and paint the wood, and do some reattaching of parts of the railing.   Notice the HIGH QUALITY work done by this amateur !
