Workshop Renovation 2005

July 03, 2005

Began working in the corner, getting ready to put up the first piece of wallboard on the last wall.  Took a bit of time to clean out the corner, but then I added another outlet and got the wall area ready to proceed.

Below is the new outlet with shims behind it for amazing stability when plugging in those hard-to-plug-in items:

July 16 - 17, 2005

Got a lot done this weekend ... first, I bought a radio/CD/CDR/MP3 player so I could listen to music as I worked.  I also bought two ceiling speakers and installed them.  See below:

Then I went to work on the back (and last!) wall.  Got most of the insulation installed, along with some more electrical stuff.  I set up two quad boxes beside each other so I can use this for a charging station for battery-powered stuff.  Then on the right side of the back window I decided to put this last section on a separate circuit.  This area will have three outlets and one switch to operate a light to be installed in the future over the location where my workbenches will be.  See the work done below:

Just a few more pieces of insulation, run a 12 gauge wire from the panel to the back wall, install the wallboard, hookup all the electrical, and paint ... then I will be finished with the major work of this renovation !  Yayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy !

July 23 - 24, 2005

Worked on the sheetrock this weekend .... got it all up except for one more piece !  Check out the pictures below:

Notice the precision cut-outs for the outlets !

As you can see below, all the insulation has been put in, so the only thing left is a little more wallboard, and my workshop will have real walls everywhere !

Hope to get the last of it put in during the next week, then I can start painting, arrange a few things, and I will be finished with Phase One !

July 28, 2005

Put up the last full section of wallboard tonight.  Now I only have to do a little around the door and the walls will be finished, except for painting.  Notice the precision cuts made for the outlet and switch boxes:

July 30 - 31, 2005

Started back on my kitchen project this weekend ... tore the paneling off this wall, removed the old brown switches and outlet, replaced with almond, and put in new insulation.

Here is the next piece of wallboard up and almost in place ... still have a little trimming to do, but the next piece will be easier .... nothing to cut out except the window !
